Is there a price to pay for outstanding customer service?

So, why do people not always want to buy into companies that give that reliability and reputation and risk major projects being carried out in their home going wrong? Well the obvious answer will always come down to budget and clients not appreciating how valuable knowledge and experience is within the industry but what is the price to pay if a project goes wrong due to lack of knowledge and experience and nobody willing to help? Before choosing which company you are going to entrust with your projects at home, make sure you do your research and think about the following:

  • How were you initially greeted? This is a good indication of how important clients are to a company.
  • What is the process from your initial enquiry to then having the work carried out and who is responsible for each element.
  • Make sure you see portfolios of recent client projects along with client testimonials – a company confident in their service will be happy for you to speak to recent clients.
  • What are the terms & conditions of business, along with payment schedules. Ensure you understand when payments are due and why they are due at the requested stages of the process.
  • Ask the design consultant about his experience in the industry and will he/she be the one point of communication through your project being carried out.
  • How long has the company been trading? The longer the company has been trading, the better the reputation will be. Companies don’t survive long if they are not delivering good customer service.

So the million dollar question is – would you risk spending a significant sum of money with a company that you are not entirely sure will give you that 5-star treatment or invest a little bit more knowing that you will get that 5-star treatment and more. Having a new kitchen, bathroom or bedroom is an investment in your home, make sure you choose the right company with all the knowledge, experience and that will deliver the all important personal attention to detail.
